Hosts: Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Senegal, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
The SURAGGWA programme (FP268), approved by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in July 2025, represents a landmark investment of USD 222 million to restore degraded landscapes and build climate resilience across eight Sahelian countries—Burkina Faso, Chad, Djibouti, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal—many of which are experiencing fragile and conflict-affected situations. This side event will serve as the global launch of SURAGGWA, showcasing its strategic contribution to climate resilience, food security, and sustainable livelihoods in one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable regions.
