Frontline Leadership for Real Action: Engaging Family Farmers and Indigenous Peoples in the COP30 Action Agenda

// // Plenary

Hosts:  Instituto Regenera, Botswana Farmers Association & East Africa Family Farmers, West African Network of Peasants and Agricultural Producers, PELUM Kenya, Farmers in Climate Action Australia, PELUM Kenya, Red CSA Colombia and Proyectar Sin Fronteras

Frontline food leaders — family farmers, Indigenous Peoples, pastoralists, fisherfolks and other food producers — are essential partners for delivering on the COP30 Action Agenda.

The Plans to Accelerate Solutions (PAS) can only drive real, lasting transformation if they are co-created and implemented with those who hold deep territorial knowledge and work daily to sustain food systems and biodiversity. Yet, participation of these frontline actors in the Activation Groups remains limited.

This session brings together leaders from diverse organizations to discuss how to move beyond donor–implementer–beneficiary models and ensure meaningful engagement in global climate and food governance. What institutional and political shifts are needed for these actors to shape and steer the Action Agenda — not just implement it?
