European Food Workforce of the Future – Playball, or Playmakers?

// // Workforce Futures

Europe is already facing a skilled worker shortage, especially in specific food sectors, but how can we ensure that the continent will stay on top of the game further down the line? While the earlier session ‘Perfect recipes for a skilled workforce’ discusses the short-term needs that can be uplifted through sector initiatives like the biotech academy by EIT Food, this session will get into the nitty gritty of futureproofing the job markets in Europe in the long term:
• Do we really know the skills needed, or do we need to create the markets for new job profiles? • Where will the future work force and talent come from, and will AI be an enabler, or job killer in the food sector?
• Will we be able to shape the job market of the future through framework programmes like FP10, EU Missions or other national and regional initiatives, or is it more likely that external forces shape the future while the food sector has to be able to adapt, skill, re-skill, upskill and pivot at a much faster pace than is currently done?
• Do we have the capacity, both in terms of manpower and economic scope, to keep up with global players?

Join us as we discuss what is needed to build up a robust workforce that can self-upskill, and the necessary requirements for you, your company, and our joint markets in the coming decades.
